What is the Roswell Permitting & Licensing HUB?

A new way to submit and manage your permit, Planning & Zoning, and license applications online, anytime. With the Permitting & Licensing HUB you will be able to:

• Submit an application for a permit, plan, or license
• View the status of the application
• Pay for your application or license online
• View application review comments where applicable
• Receive your permit online to begin work
• Schedule inspections
• Receive your license or certificate of occupation online

Who needs to create an account in the Permitting & Licensing HUB?

Anyone who wants to utilize any of the services listed above will need a Permitting & Licensing HUB account.

Note: Non-residents may already have a functional account. If you have logged in to any of the Tyler Technologies applications used by many surrounding cities and counties, that account will allow you to access the City of Roswell Permitting & Licensing HUB. Some popular Tyler Technology software applications include Energov and Munis.

Are there any permit or license services not available in the Permitting & Licensing HUB?

The permits and licenses below are not available in the Permitting & Licensing HUB and will continue to be handled by the Roswell Police Department:

What happens to my active permit application during the transition?

All applications submitted before October 3 will be added to the new system beginning October 13, 2025.

Will I be able to access previously completed applications for my property or license in the new system?

It is possible! If the email you use to create your account matches the email on the previous record, it will appear. If you don't see your previously closed permit, please contact Resident and Business Services at 770-641-3727 or rbs@roswellgov.com so an agent can associate your registered account with your permit.

If I submitted an application but it hasn’t been approved yet, do I need to reapply in the Roswell Permitting & Licensing HUB?

No, your application will be transferred to the new system after October 13.

Can I apply for a permit, plan or license completely online, or will I still need to visit City Hall?

You will not need to visit Roswell City Hall, the entire process can be completed online.

Can I still visit Roswell City Hall to apply for a permit or Business License/Occupational Tax?

Sure! Be sure to bring your own device and a digital copy of your documents for upload. A Resident and Business Services Specialist will walk you through the permit/license process on your phone or computer in the Resident and Business Services Center at Roswell City Hall.

Can I email an application instead of using the Permitting & Licensing HUB?

No, the City will no longer accept applications through email, paper or walk, but will require all applicants to create and account and apply through the Permitting & Licensing HUB.

Who can submit a Planning & Zoning application?

Anyone can submit an application, however it is important to know all applications will require a notarized property owner signature page that can be downloaded from the Planning & Zoning Applications & Resources webpage. Before starting any application, please review the Planning & Zoning Checklists for what documents are required for your type of application. You will not be able to submit the application unless all required documents are provided. All required documents must be in PDF format.

Which City of Roswell permits are included in the Permitting & Licensing HUB?

All Building, Land Disturbance, Planning and Zoning, Events, Fire, Right-of-Way, Tree, Film, Photo and Sign permits are included in the Permitting & Licensing HUB.

I am a City of Roswell property owner who intends to perform work that requires a building permit. Will I need an account to apply for a building permit?

Yes, you will need to create an account and apply for a permit. Add yourself as both the property owner and the contractor then upload an Owner/General Contractor Affidavit or Owner/Trade Contractor Affidavit with your required documents.

I am a property owner hiring a licensed contractor to perform work at my property. Do I need an account to apply for a permit?

No, your licensed contractor can apply for the required permit under their name and license type. Licensed contractors are required under Georgia law to attain required building permits prior to beginning work. The City recommends that a property owner verify that a permit is, or is not, required for the work proposed prior to allowing a contractor to perform work at their property.

Can a licensed residential or general contractor use a permit expeditor (Authorized Permit Agent) to apply for building permits?

Yes, forms and guidelines are all provided within the online applications.

Which City of Roswell permits and licenses will not included in the new Permitting & Licensing HUB?

Can multiple users from my company have access to the same account?

Yes. In fact, this may be your preferred method of accessing your account. Permit access is granted to anyone who is a contact on the application and the contact email is registered in the system. Permit information is not available by clicking the parcel on the map or by the parcel owner (unless access is granted by the applicant.) You may want to create one shared account so you will never lose access, even if an employee leaves.

How do I check the status of my permit application?

When you create your account in Permitting & Licensing HUB, you will be given access to a dashboard. If you are a contact on a permit, your dashboard will show you any permits that need attention, are pending, active, recently accessed or are in draft. You can then drill down to the individual permit to view status details and invoice information.

Will permit fees be paid through Permitting & Licensing HUB?

How will I receive confirmation of my application and payments?

The applicant and contractor will receive an automated email notifications when an application has been successfully received and payments have been invoiced and / or received. Notification will be sent to the applicant's registered email. All other contacts can check the status of the application on the dashboard if the applicant has added the contact information using an active Permitting & Licensing HUB account.

What happens if I apply for the wrong permit?

Please contact Roswell Resident and Business Services as soon as possible by calling 770- 641-3727. If work has not started on the application, a Resident and Business Services agent can change the permit type. If work has begun, the application will need to be terminated by a City of Roswell Resident and Business Services agent and a new permit created.

How do I schedule an inspection and receive confirmation of my scheduled inspection?

To schedule an inspection, log in to Permitting & Licensing HUB, click the Dashboard link in the menu at the top of the page, then navigate to your permit and drill down on the permit number. Select the "inspections" tab, choose a preferred date and time (subject to availability) and submit your request. The applicant and contractor will receive a confirmation email when the inspection is scheduled.

Can engineers, architects, and developers submit plans separately online?

No. All required documents are needed at the time of application.

How will I see review comments?

Once the review is complete, applicants will receive a comment email summarizing any required corrections or revisions. Applicants can then respond to comments and upload revised plans directly through Permitting & Licensing HUB. The system keeps a record of all submissions and revisions.

I am a business owner. Do I need an account to renew my Occupational Tax Certificate, also known as a Business License?

Yes, you will need to create an account in the Permitting & Licensing HUB to renew your license, and the email account you use to register needs to match the email associated with the current Business License.

In order to facilitate this new service, the City of Roswell needs to update the email address on file for each business. Without an email address, you will be unable to renew your business license. Please submit the Business License Renewal Contact Information Form by November 30, 2025.

When and how can I renew my Business License/Occupational Tax Certificate?

If you have an existing business in the City of Roswell, Georgia, do not submit a new business license application. Doing so would create a duplicate in the system. Business License/Occupational Tax Renewal applications will be accessible in late December. When the renewal period opens, you will be able to easily renew your license by logging in to the Permitting & Licensing HUB, click the My Work link in the top menu bar, then the My licenses tab. You will see a blue Renew button that will take you directly to the renewal application for your business.

I own a business that serves alcohol. Do I need an account to renew my alcohol license?

No, due to the renewal schedule overlapping with the rollout schedule, alcohol license renewal will be accessible in the new system during the 2026 renewal window.

I am considering opening a business in Roswell. Do I need to create an account to apply for a Business License?

Yes, your Business License/Occupational Tax Certificate will be made available to the email account registered on the site.

Which City of Roswell licenses are not included in the Roswell Permitting & Licensing HUB once it goes live?

Massage Establishment Licenses will continue to be handled directly by the Roswell Police Department.

Alcoholic Beverage Licenses & Catering Permits will continue to be handled directly by the Roswell Legal Division.

Will Business License/Occupational Tax Fees be paid through the Permitting & Licensing HUB?

How will I receive my Business License/Occupational Tax Certificate?

When you create your account in the Permitting & Licensing HUB, you will be given access to a dashboard, when all requirements are met, you will be able to print your certificate from your dashboard.
