Recovering a Vehicle from Impound

Impound Release Steps
  1. Take the required documentation to Roswell Police Department and obtain a release form.
  2. Take the release form and payment to American Towing to recover vehicle.
    1. Fees must be paid in cash (checks and Credit Cards are not accepted for impounds).

Documentation Required to Obtain a Release Form
The following is required to get a release form from the City of Roswell on a vehicle that has been impounded:
  1. State-issued identification card or driver’s license
  2. Proof of ownership of the vehicle (one of the following)
    1. Title
    2. Tag receipt (registration) must be current
    3. Notarized bill of sale or contract papers if purchased less than 30 days prior to today’s date from authorized dealer
    4. Rental contract if it is a rental car (the rental company will be called to verify that you can pick up the vehicle)
    5. Notarized Bill of Sale from an individual must be accompanied by a complete title (back completely filled out) and less than 30 days old

Not the Owner of the vehicle?

If you are not the owner of the vehicle or if the above information is in someone else's name, you must obtain proof that the person owns the vehicle. You will also be required to provide a notarized letter from the owner stating the vehicles description and permission for you to obtain the vehicle. Titles that have not been legally transferred must be accompanied by a notarized bill of sale.

Is your vehicle registered to multiple owners?

If the vehicle is registered in more than one name, you must obtain a notarized authorization letter from the other owners to release the vehicle to you. The letter must include the tag number, vehicle identification number (VIN) and the make and model of the vehicle.
