City Ordinance

Article 13.2 of the Roswell Code of Ordinances provides for corrective action for the purpose of reducing false alarms.

False Alarm Reduction Program

The City of Roswell has partnered with CryWolf, a false alarm management company, who will manage all alarm registrations and the processing of false alarms. The partnership will CryWolf is designed to help reduce unnecessary responses of law enforcement, firefighters, and paramedics.

Alarm Registration

No later than five (5) business days following the installation of any burglar or fire alarm system, the alarm user shall obtain an alarm permit by registering through CryWolf. The following information is required:
  • The complete name, address and phone number of the alarm user;
  • The names of all persons authorized to enter the premises and deactivate the alarm system signal as well as all phone numbers at which such persons can be reached;
  • The name and telephone number of the alarm user's monitoring agent, if any; and
  • If known, the name and telephone number of the person or entity which installed the alarm system.
Any changes in the information set forth must be reported to the CryWolf within five (5) business days.

Permit Fee Schedule

During a calendar year the following fee structure will apply:

False Alarms

  • Draw police resources and delay response times to real emergencies
  • Lead neighbors to ignore the alarm when it goes off
  • Create a potential danger to citizens and officers responding to the call

To Prevent False Alarms

  • Keep the system maintained and change the batteries at scheduled times
  • Make sure everyone in the home or business knows the necessary codes and understands what to do if the alarm should accidentally activate
  • Make sure that rooms with motion sensors are free of pets, party decorations, or anything else that can activate them
  • Test the alarm system to confirm that is in correct working order; if you have any doubts, call the alarm company immediately for service

Additional Fees:
  • Any false alarm occurring without a valid alarm permit will be assessed a $100 fee for each and every alarm, in addition to the applicable false alarm fee.
  • False alarm fees not paid within 60 days will be assessed a $50 late fee.
  • The fee to reinstate a suspension of response is $50.
  • The appeal hearing fee is $25, plus assessed fine or fee. Fee and fine shall be refunded in its entirety if appeal is upheld.
