Due to the circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Roswell suspended the collection of alcohol excise taxes and business license fees for 60 days, effective March 20, 2020. With this 60 day suspension coming to an end, all businesses will have until June 30 to remit all alcohol excise tax returns and payments without penalty or interest.

Additionally, all businesses that have not completed the annual business license renewal will have until June 30 to file their renewal without penalty or interest. Any payments for alcohol excise tax or business license not received by June 30 will be assessed penalties and interest.

Renewing a Business License

Business licenses expire on December 31 of each calendar year. You will receive an official billing notification in December 2019 explaining how to determine your business occupation tax amount.

We have extended the occupation tax due date to March 16. Failure to renew a business license prior to March 16 will result in a 10% penalty.

Renewing a Business License Online

You can renew your business license and pay your business occupational tax online using a convenient interactive tax calculation system at

(There is a 3% surcharge for online credit and debit card payments. In addition, eCheck payment option is available for a flat fee of $1.50)

Renewing a Business License In Person

Business owners are encouraged to complete the online, automated calculation renewal form to provide accurate tax information and remove the hassle of manual manipulation.

The city continues to accept checks and money orders through the mail and in person at our office located at City Hall. In addition, business owners can visit the office to pay with a credit card or debit card with no 3% surcharge or call the cashier directly at 770-641-3799 to pay with a credit card or debit card.
