1. The City of Roswell will provide a 96-gallon household garbage container to all residents of the City of Roswell.
   • All household garbage must be placed into the City provided container.
   • Household garbage will not be collected from other containers.
   • The container lid must be closed to be collected.
2. Residents are responsible for contacting the Environmental/Public Works Solid Waste Division to request a container if they are a new resident or move into a home that does not have a container.
3. The containers are assigned to individual residences with a serial number and shall not be removed from the premises.
4. Residents are responsible for the care, proper use, safekeeping, loss and cleanliness of their containers.
5. If a resident requests to exchange their provided 96-gallon container for a different size, the new (exchanged) container will be required to be in place for a minimum of one (1) year from the date of receipt.
6. Existing premium service customers will receive two (2) containers. If a resident wants two (2) containers they are required to contact the City of Roswell Finance Department at 770-641-3759 to change their service from "standard" to "premium". Additional fees will apply.
7. Residents can opt to receive two (2) 45-gallon containers, in lieu of the standard, single 96-gallon container, for a one-time fee. Please note, the 45-gallon containers are for customers with limitations who cannot accommodate the 96-gallon container and require the approval of the Environmental/Public Works Department Director, Deputy Director or Solid Waste Manager. There is no change in the standard monthly service fee.
8. The City reserves the right to charge residents the current container replacement fee for the cost of repair or replacement of containers if the repair or replacement is required as a result of abuse, misuse, damage, or fire.
9. If a resident requests a new, clean container when relocating to a home that currently has a container, the current container replacement fee will apply.
10. If a container is damaged by City staff it will be replaced at no cost to the resident.
11. Deliveries of containers for new residents and/or replacements will occur within 48 hours of the request.
12. All garbage must be bagged before placing into containers and all garbage must be placed into containers. Please do not leave bags of garbage on the ground.
13. Residents can request a large item pickup for additional bags of garbage for an additional fee. Residents must submit a Large Item Pickup Request online or contact the Financial Services Division at 770-641-3759 to schedule the collection and submit payment.

Roswell offers two levels of curbside household garbage pickup for residents. The City provides one (1) 96-gallon container to all residents.

A curbside exemption may be approved in lieu of curbside pickup at the direction of the Environmental/Public Works Director or his/her designee due to senior citizen status, disability or medical limitation (certain restrictions apply). The curbside exemption must be renewed every two (2) years to ensure continued service and accuracy of the program. To apply, please submit a Curbside Exemption Application.

Items that are not collected as part of the regular curbside garbage/sanitation program can be scheduled through Roswell's Large Item Pickup Program. Collection occurs on your regular curbside garbage/sanitation collection day. The pickup window is between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM. We ask that you have your item at the end of your driveway by 8:00 AM. Additional fees apply.

• Occasional excess garbage

Please note that the collection of chemicals and construction/demolition debris is not permitted. This includes wood, brick, cement, concrete, ceramic tiles, etc. and/or liquid items (other than paint).

Residents must submit a Large Item Pickup Request online or contact the Financial Services Division at 770-641-3759 to schedule the collection and submit payment.

As of July 1, 2025, the Roswell Transfer Station accepts non-construction materials from both residents and non-residents. The Transfer Station also accepts construction and demolition materials from Roswell residents only. Fees may apply. Proof of residence within Roswell city limits is required to receive resident rates.

Curbside Recycling Collection

• Waste Pro uses an Automated Side Loading (ASL) truck to collect curbside recycling. This system requires the use of 65-gallon containers and specific placement of your recycling container at the curb for collection.
• Only contents of the container will be collected; residents will no longer be able to leave cardboard next to the container.
• The recycling container must be placed at least 3 feet away from other objects (household garbage container, mailbox, etc.).
• The container lid must be closed to be collected.

Yard Waste Collection Guidelines

• Curbside yard waste collection is limited to two cubic yards at a time
• Yard waste includes weeds, grass, hedge trimmings, leaves, brush, tree limbs
• Yard waste does not include dirt, rocks, mulch, sand
• Yard waste must be placed in paper composting sacks or a 50-gallon metal or plastic container
• Branches and tree limbs must not exceed 4 feet in length, 6 inches in diameter, nor weigh more than 50 pounds
• Yard waste collection is limited to 12 bags, or loose materials not exceeding two cubic yards
• Residents may obtain additional collection by contacting Waste Pro at 470-820-1900 to schedule a special pickup of yard waste (fees will apply)
• All yard waste must be placed at the curb by 8:00 AM on collection day

Roswell's Recycling Center provides recycling services for a wide variety of materials - from everyday items such as plastic, paper, metal and glass to larger items including appliances, tires, batteries, cell phones, printer cartridges, electronics, televisions, motor oil, paints*, and antifreeze.

These services are free for Roswell residents. Non-residents are currently not permitted to use the services.

*As of July 1, 2024, paint recycling is no longer free. $3.82 per container will be charged for containers up to 1 gallon and $19.10 per 5-gallon container.
