A message from Judge Hansford:

In accordance with the May 11, 2020 Second Order Extending Declaration of Statewide Judicial Emergency issued by Georgia Supreme Court Chief Justice Harold Melton, the Roswell Municipal Court will remain closed through Friday, June 19, 2020. We currently have plans to re-open the Court on Monday, June 22, 2020, subject, of course, to further guidance from the Chief Justice. When the Court does re-open, we will do so in compliance with the safety guidelines set forth in Chief Justice Melton's Order.

The health, safety and welfare of the court staff and the public at large will be our first and foremost priority. We will be examining the safest ways in which to handle matters for those who fall into the "high risk" category for contracting COVID-19. We will not be bringing in large groups of people for court sessions. We will not be rushing back to our old "normal." Rather, we intend to focus on personal service at the individual level in an environment that is safe, secure and healthy for all. We are working now to come up with our own guidelines that will be derived from Chief Justice Melton's Order. Once completed, those guidelines will be published online, as well as at the entrance of the Court.

We know, based upon the volume of telephone calls and emails that we have been receiving, that there are many questions regarding future court dates, and that people are eager to come to court to resolve their respective matters. We are eager to answer those questions and make that happen for each and every person who has a matter pending in our court, however, we want to make sure we get this right, so please bear with us. Our court staff will be sending out all rescheduled court date notices via regular mail, and the Court will not be in session prior to June 22, 2020. Undoubtedly, there will be hiccups as we ramp back up, as this is uncharted territory for all courts, not just ours, so I would ask for your patience and understanding.

If you have any questions, please contact us at court@roswellgov.com.

Stay safe and be well.
