Process
If you are planning on opening a business in the City of Roswell, you must first register with the Business Registration Division. You will be required to fill out several forms that are obtained through the Community Development Department.
Emergency Information Form
The Fire Department is most concerned about the Emergency Information form. Please take special care in filling it out completely and accurately. This form will be forwarded to our 9-1-1 center and will be filed with the Fire Department to be used for contact information in the event of an emergency at your business.
When to Move
It is important to remember not to move into a building or tenant space prior to obtaining approval from the City of Roswell. Part of the approval process is to have a fire inspection of the facility done to ensure that it complies with all of the applicable fire and life safety codes. It is in your best interest to go through the approval process prior to occupying the building or tenant space because you may be required to vacate if approval cannot be granted.
Inspection
Again, part of the process to obtain approval to operate a business is to have a fire inspection conducted at your intended business location. When the Community Risk Reduction Division receives an approved code clearance form from Community Development, an Assistant of the Roswell Fire Department will contact you to set an appointment to conduct an inspection.
