The City of Roswell's Southern Trilogy offers exciting opportunities for children to learn about the history of the American south while exploring the grounds of our three antebellum homes and participating in activities that highlight life in the 19th century.

Passport to the Past

A Southern Trilogy Camp Adventure

July 24-26, 2019
9:00 AM - 1:00 PM
$94 per child
For children ages 8-12

This exciting new camp is your passport to the past, where your child will experience new adventures in old 19th century Roswell. Each day, campers will meet at one of the Historic House Museum locations for a day filled with activities reminiscent of life in the 1800s.
  • Wednesday: Bulloch Hall - Experience blacksmithing, woodworking, period clothes and quilts, candle dipping, crafts and games, including a watermelon seed-spitting contest.
  • Thursday: Barrington Hall - Draw water from a well, learn about the historic water wheel, clean and comb raw cotton for spinning, make natural dyes to tie-dye a t-shirt.
  • Friday: Smith Plantation - Help our featured chef, Clarissa Clifton, with open hearth cooking while sampling some great treats, dig for veggies, make homemade butter and ice cream, play games, and make crafts, including a real Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head.

Kids Can WriteRoswell's Barrington Hall hosts its annual "Kids Can Write" summer camp, which teaches children ages 10-14 how to write creatively and to view writing as a fun and enjoyable activity. The camps will be led by Mary Ann Rodman, an award-winning children's book author and children's writing instructor. The students will learn to tell their stories clearly while also engaging their audience through guided exercises, group and individual instruction, and field trips used to inspire and encourage writing ability.

Bulloch Hall Camps

Theatre Camp: Kudzu Kidz

July 8-12, 2019

$250 per child ($50 deposit required)
For children ages 7-10

Offered by the Kudzu Playhouse, our classes provide a professional and fun approach to theatre in a safe, noncritical environment where enjoyment and learning lead to personal growth. Through creative dramatics, theatre games, character development, improvisational scenes, and simple scripts written by the students or developed from popular tales, the students will learn about au¬ditioning, playing different characters, and memorization. A final performance for family and friends concludes the creative drama class. Please bring lunch and drink.

Camp Rough Riders

For children ages 6-11

Bulloch Hall’s summer offering for children ages 6-11 years is "Camp Rough Riders," a one-week day camp program that includes history, crafts, activities and learning old fashioned skills. Campers have an active week doing things like exploring the nature trail at Bulloch Hall, where they learn to identify trees and plants. Campers learn how to give a tour of Bulloch Hall and show off their skills by giving tours for their families. Past camps have included a blacksmithing demonstration, making candles, stitching samplers, open-hearth cooking, woodworking, and dyeing fabric. Campers have also learned about bees, honey and beekeeping.

$150 per child
For children ages 8-12

If experiencing a real Teepee, starting a fire with two sticks, tanning hides, arrowheads, making primitive tools, open hearth cooking, trail quests, wind catchers, fun crafts, and live animals gets you excited, this camp is definitely for you! Boys and girls will enjoy a week of wilderness adventures and survival skills, and learn about growing up on a farm in 19th Century Roswell. Monday - Thursday camp will meet in the mornings. Friday night campers will enjoy cooking their dinner over an open fire and an evening filled with more experiences, stories, and games in the dark. Please bring lunch, snack, and drink. Please wear close-toed shoes.
