The City of Roswell's Southern Trilogy offers exciting opportunities for children to learn about the history of the American south while exploring the grounds of our three antebellum homes and participating in activities that highlight life in the 19th century.

Barrington Hall Camps

Kids Can Write A popular summer creative writing camp for children will return this year. Roswell's Barrington Hall will host its annual "Kids Can Write" summer camp, which teaches children how to write creatively and to view writing as a fun and enjoyable activity. The camps will be led by Mary Ann Rodman, an award-winning children's book author and children's writing instructor. The students will learn to tell their stories clearly while also engaging their audience through guided exercises, group and individual instruction and field trips used to inspire and encourage writing ability.

For children ages 9-12

At Miss Mittie's Academy young ladies will delight in experiencing the history of entertaining and daily life from the 1800s to today. Bulloch Hall offers the opportunity for girls to explore a historic site, participate in special crafts, and learn social graces, including manners, etiquette, fashion and refinement. Other activities at the camp may include basic stitching, setting a table, conversation, cooking, games, etc. This year Debbie Cwalina, Co-Founder of Be the Voice, will share how your child can be the voice that stops bullying. Every young lady would benefit greatly from this week. Parents and children will enjoy the gracious heritage passed on from one of Roswell's founding families with a final tea.

Camp Rough Riders

$200 per child, $185 for Friends of Bulloch members
For children ages 6-11

Children experience a one-week day camp program that includes history, crafts, activities and old fashioned skills. During the week campers explore the Nature Trail at Bulloch Hall, where they learn to identify trees and plants, and learn how to give a tour of Bulloch Hall and show off their skills by giving tours for their families. Past camps have included a blacksmithing demonstration, making candles, stitching samplers, open-hearth cooking, woodworking, and dyeing fabric. Campers have also learned about bees, honey and beekeeping.

Smith Plantation Camps

Camp Yesteryear is a week full of fun and learning for children on the beautiful grounds of the Smith Plantation in the heart of Historic Roswell. Activities include 19th Century Crafts, Farm life, Butter Churning, Native American Experiences, Open Hearth Cooking, Soap Making, Herbs & Gardening, Painting, 19th Century Games, Gold and Gem Panning, an Animal Encounter and much more!
