Roswell's Music on the Hill Free Outdoor Concert Series

It's the end of the week—time for another great Friday night in Roswell! Spread a blanket out on the lawn at City Hall, the crown jewel of Hill Street, lift your glass, uncork a bottle, and unwind from the week while listening to Music on the Hill.

Music on the Hill is a free outdoor concert series that has returned for a full second season on the second Friday of each month May through October in 2019. Music on the Hill is a rain or shine event.

Hosted by the City of Roswell with Musical Production provided by Atlanta Plays it Forward, Music on the Hill invites concert goers to a enjoy a casual BYO environment where they can dine al fresco under the trees on City Hall grounds.

Attendees may bring their own food and drinks, but beer and wine will also be available for purchase on-site through these vendors: Free parking is available at City Hall, 38 Hill Street, and free trolley service will be provided by Roswell Trolley. Trolley routes and maps are available at

A talented and consummate performer, Douglas has been thrilling audiences for over 25 years with his incredible vocals and versatility, ranging from Big Band to Jazz to Blues.

Hailing from Columbia, South Carolina, Douglas grew up listening to the sounds of Glen Miller and Tommy Dorsey. His early influences inspired him to take up drums at the age of nine. A multi-faceted performer, he also is a guitarist and songwriter. With his direction set, he is certain to inspire and excite audiences with his impressive showmanship and extraordinary talent!

Joe Gransden & His Big Band

Joe Gransden The Joe Gransden 16 Piece Big Band is quickly becoming one of the busiest groups on the jazz scene. Originally formed in 2009 Joe and the guys have continued to build momentum and are performing numerous shows around the country. "The Big Band truly has its own sound and really swings! I attribute that to the arrangements that were all written by jazz trombone great Wes Funderburk! It's such a pleasure to front a band of top musicians that can interpret Wes' arrangements perfectly! These guys are the best!" says Gransden.

Karla Harris

Karla Harris Vocalist Karla Harris, known for dynamic diversity within the music, has made a career within the art form she loves for decades, performing for audiences from Portland to Provence, including at events such as the Sarasota Jazz Festival, Portland Jazz Festival, Oregon Coast Jazz Party, Nantucket Arts Festival, Atlanta Jazz Party, and a TED Talk, and in top jazz rooms around the country. Critics acclaimed her 2015 CD, "Karla Harris Sings the Dave and Iola Brubeck Songbook," featuring jazz All-Stars Dave Weckl, Tom Kennedy, Bob Sheppard and Ted Howe. Of the record, Jazziz wrote, “the Brubecks would be proud.” Her latest album, "Certain Elements," a suite of original music and cover tunes that joins together Karla's influences of contemporary jazz, Latin, swing and blues, debuted at #44 on the prestigious Jazz Week chart in February 2019, with radio play around the globe.

Karla is an artist-in-residence at Kennesaw State University teaching Applied Vocal Jazz. She lives in northwest Atlanta with her family and one sassy poodle.

Bumpin' The Mango

Bumpin the Mango Formed in 2012, Bumpin' The Mango has become Atlanta's top funk & soul band. Ten of the southeast's finest musicians make up this musical brotherhood. Wielding a fiery five piece horn section, a rock solid rhythm section, and an incredible lead vocalist. Their music and presence radiates an energy from the stage that lifts the audience out of their seats and pulls them to the dance floor. Influenced by bands such as Tower Of Power, Earth Wind & Fire, Chicago, and The Ohio Players, Bumpin' The Mango's original music is a melting pot of funk, soul, and R&B. They've recently released their debut EP that is creating quite the buzz in the music community. The band currently performs in live music venues and festivals across the southeast.
