New Driveway Creates Access to Parks

Post Date:05/29/2020 10:00 AM
If you have ever visited Groveway Community Park or the Adult Recreation Center off of Grimes Bridge Road then you would know that the only vehicular access was through Oxbo Road. Thanks to the City’s Transportation Department and Recreation and Parks Department, a new driveway has been completed that creates additional access to the community park.

The new driveway creates a connection between Frank Lewis Drive (inside Groveway Community Park/Grimes Bridge Park) and the Adult Recreation Center parking lot off of Grimes Bridge Road. The driveway is 20 feet wide and 400 feet long and provides new connectivity between the two parks. It also provides a safe alternate route to essential City facilities as Frank Lewis Drive is steep and during adverse weather conditions can become a riskier way to access City facilities and parks.

This joint effort between the Transportation and Recreation and Parks departments cost approximately $232,000.
