Roswell Proposes Decreased Property Tax Rate

Post Date:08/14/2018 9:00 AM
The City of Roswell is tentatively proposing a millage rate—also known as the property tax rate—for fiscal year (FY) 2019 of 4.955 mills. This rate represents a reduction of .500 mills compared to previous years, during which the millage rate had remained unchanged (5.455) since Fiscal Year 2009.

The proposed millage rate includes 4.705 mills for Maintenance & Operations and 0.250 mills for Debt Service. Each mill represents $1 of tax assessment per $1,000 of assessed property value.

Roswell’s tentatively proposed property tax rate of 4.955 mills is among the lowest in metro Atlanta. Mayor and Council will hold three public hearings on the proposed millage rate: August 13, 2018, at 7:00 p.m., August 14, 2018, at 6:00 p.m., and August 27, 2018, at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at Roswell City Hall, 38 Hill Street.

During these public hearings, City Council will make a final decision on the FY 2019 millage rate.
