Roswell Cultural Arts Center Announces 2018 Summer Puppet Lineup

The best deal in town for summer family fun will return in June and July with a lineup of award-winning puppeteers participating in the Roswell Summer Puppet Series at the Roswell Cultural Arts Center.

The 2018 Series will include the following productions:

June 4 – 9: Wizard of Oz
Presented by Frisch Marionettes (Ohio)

June 11 – 16: Wind in the Willows
Presented by StoneLion Puppet Theatre (Missouri)

June 18 – 23: Cinderella
Presented by Tanglewood Marionettes (Massachusetts)

June 25 – 30: Big Bad Little Red Pig Show
Presented by Lee Bryan, “That Puppet Guy” (Georgia)

July 2-3 & 5-7: Peter & The Wolf
Presented by National Marionette Theatre (Pennsylvania)

July 9 – 14: The Reluctant Dragon
Presented by All Hands Productions (Georgia)

July 16 – 21: Cardboard Explosion!
Presented by Paper Heart Puppets (New York)

Each week, shows will take place Monday through Saturday at 10 a.m., with matinee performances on Wednesdays and Fridays at 1:30 p.m. The Box Office and theater open a half hour prior to show time, and shows run approximately 45 minutes.

Individual show tickets will go on sale Monday, April 2 and are $5 per person. A ticket is required for everyone ages 2 and up. Summer Passes will also go on sale April 2 for $30 and include 7 admissions for the price of 6. Daycares, summer camps, and scout troops are welcome and encouraged to call ahead to ensure seating. Reservations for groups of 10 or more may be made by calling (770) 594-6232.

Coming in May

The Roswell Family Series presents “Lollipops for Breakfast” by the Boston-based troupe The Gottabees. A delightful blend of puppetry, dance, and physical theatre – all set to live musical accompaniment – “Lollipops for Breakfast” follows Sylvie and her trusty sidekick on a magical adventure complete with giant candy machines and pop-up cookbooks!

Fans of Roswell’s Puppet Series won’t want to miss seeing The Gottabees, who are among the most creative and original performers working in the puppetry field today. Their shows have won a UNIMA-USA Citation of Excellence – the highest honor in the field of puppetry – and grants from the Jim Henson Family Foundation and Puppeteers of America.

In Roswell, The Gottabees will present three performances of “Lollipops for Breakfast":
Friday, May 11 at 10 a.m. and Saturday, May 12 at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. The Gottabees will also host a “Mini-Me Puppet-Making Workshop” on Saturday, May 12 at 11 a.m.

Tickets for the performances are $7 for everyone ages 2 and up, and workshop tickets are $5 each. Tickets may be purchased online at by calling (770) 594–6232, or in person at the Roswell Cultural Arts Center during business hours.
