Post Date:03/27/2017 11:17 AM
The City of Roswell has a great opportunity to receive $20,000 in grant funding from the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) to improve a local park. Through the “Meet Me at the Park” initiative, residents can nominate Roswell every day between April 1 and 30 at The winning city will choose a local park in their district to receive funding for an improvement project.

Roswell’s Recreation, Parks, Historic & Cultural Affairs Department—a six-time NRPA Gold Medal Finalist for Excellence in Parks and Recreation Management—operates 22 parks and 965 acres of park land. If awarded this NRPA grant, the funds will be utilized to connect youth to nature, increase access to sports, and inspire healthy living.

“Our goal is to improve the quality of life for the citizens of Roswell,” said Morgan Rodgers, Director of Roswell’s Recreation & Parks Department. “We encourage everyone to join us in voting in the ‘Meet Me at the Park’ campaign, as we continue meeting the needs of our vibrant and growing community.”

Everyone who nominates a city will be entered into a drawing for a tablet specially outfitted for the outdoors. The NRPA will announce the winning city on May 18.

NRPA is collaborating with The Walt Disney Company—including Disney Citizenship, Disney|ABC Television Group, and ESPN—to sponsor the “Meet Me in the Park” campaign for a third year.
