Arrest Made in Double Homicide Investigation

The Roswell Police Department would like to announce an arrest in the murder of two teens that occurred in the early morning hours of Monday, August 1, 2016.  JEFFREY A. HAZELWOOD, 20 years old, of Roswell (pictured below) has been arrested and charged with the murders of NATALIE HENDERSON and CARTER DAVIS.

Since the discovery of the victims, investigators have been collecting evidence, reviewing surveillance footage, and speaking with anyone who may be able to contribute information. This work led to the identification of HAZELWOOD as a suspect. Detectives located HAZELWOOD early this morning and he was questioned at the Roswell Police Department.

HAZELWOOD will subsequently be charged with two counts of Murder. He is currently at the Roswell Detention Center and will be transferred to the Fulton County Jail. For safety reasons, the time of transfer will not be disclosed.

The Roswell Police Department would like to thank the families of the victims, the public and local businesses for their support and information along with other agencies that assisted including the GBI, Sandy Springs Police Department, Cobb County Police Department, Cherokee County Sherriff’s Office, Woodstock Police Department, the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office and the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office as well as the Fulton County and Cherokee County school systems.

RECAP:
Monday morning, August 1, 2016, shortly before 6:00 AM, Roswell Police Officers responded to Publix, 885 Woodstock Rd, in Roswell, in reference to two subjects found dead behind the business. The male and female were located by a delivery driver shortly before 6:00 AM.

The victims were identified as NATALIE A. HENDERSON, 17, of Roswell and CARTER J. DAVIS, 17, of Woodstock. HENDERSON is a student at Roswell High School and DAVIS is a student at River Ridge High School.  Administration at both schools set up counselors and resources for students as needed.

The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that the cause of death for each victim was a single gunshot to the head.

The families involved have requested privacy.
