Celebrating Thanksgiving: Open Hearth Cooking & Crafts at Smith Plantation

Southern Trilogy Logo
Clarissa Clifton will be discussing the history of Thanksgiving food and cooking a fall harvest pot roast and a pineapple upside down cake for dessert in the open hearth in the historic cookhouse. In days gone by, pineapples arrived in harbors such as Charleston and Savannah in late November. This recipe depicts the Smith's being a family of some means who can afford a pineapple for this dessert. There will also be an opportunity for Kids and Adults to make Thanksgiving crafts they can use on their table. This event is free.
