Various Boards and Commissions assist in the function of the government of the City. Each board and commission has seven members. Each body elects by majority vote a chairman who serves one year or until a successor is elected. Members serve four year terms except the HPC members, who serve three year terms. Appointments are made by nomination of the Mayor with approval of City Council.
