Various Boards and Commissions assist in the function of the government of the City. Each board and commission has seven members. Each body elects by majority vote a chairman who serves one year or until a successor is elected. Members serve four year terms except the HPC members, who serve three year terms, and Recreation Commission members, who serve five year terms. Appointments are made by nomination of the Mayor with approval of City Council.
