SR 92/140 ATMS (Advanced Traffic Management System)
This project will install computerized systems to control traffic signal timing and monitor traffic in real time along the SR 92 (Woodstock/Crossville Road) and SR 140 (Holcomb Bridge Road) corridors. This technology will allow City staff to remotely control the
computerized signal systems from the City's Hembree Road Facility. The project is 100% funded through the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) and is expected to be fully functional by June 2015.
Eves Road Complete Street
This bond-funded project will upgrade Eves Road from Holcomb Bridge Road to Riverside Road to a complete street including on-street bicycle
lanes, a multi-use path, upgraded sidewalks, and a new access driveway to East Roswell Park. Construction is expected to be complete this summer, weather permitting.
Holcomb Bridge Road Westbound Through Lane and Streetscape
This Bond funded traffic operational improvement project will add a third westbound travel lane along Holcomb Bridge Road (SR 140) between
Old Alabama Road and SR 400 northbound on-ramp. The project consists of turn lane and signal upgrades at the intersections of Old Alabama Road and Market Boulevard, new wide sidewalks, pedestrian lighting, and streetscape enhancements. Construction is expected to be complete in fall 2015.
Holcomb Bridge Road at SR 400 Northbound Ramp Intersection Improvement
This Georgia DOT funded traffic operational improvement will eliminate the Holcomb Bridge Road eastbound "trap lane" approaching Old Alabama Road. The project will add a right turn lane to the existing SR 400 northbound ramp (exit 7A), modify the existing traffic signal at the
northbound ramp terminus, and extend the westbound left-turn lane to southbound SR 400. Construction is expected to be complete in fall 2015.
Sun Valley Phase 1A Project
This is the first phase of a project to connect the existing Sun Valley Drive with the existing Warsaw Road. The project will grade an existing detention pond and provide two treatment cells within existing City property to enhance water quality and detention for the surrounding area before the water reaches Foe Killer Creek. The project will also construct a double 8’ x 8’ culvert carrying a creek under the proposed Sun Valley Drive connection.
The project is expected to start in September-October 2015 and take up to three months to complete.
Old Roswell Road between Old Ellis Road and Hembree Park Drive
Contractors will be rebuilding Old Roswell Road between Old Ellis Road and Hembree Park Drive. As a result of the work, Old Roswell Road will be closed to all through traffic from July 6 to August 6
to allow contractors to complete work more quickly. The roadway north and south of the closure will remain open for residents and businesses in the area. Review the detour map here
Old Roswell Road at Warsaw Road
Staff is designing an improvement at this intersection that includes the addition of a westbound left turn lane on Old Roswell Road to southbound Warsaw Road. In addition, there will be a new right turn lane from northbound Warsaw Road to eastbound Old Roswell Road. Construction is expected to begin in fall 2015.
SR 400 Northbound at Holcomb Bridge Road Relief Ramp
This Bond funded project will take the Exit 7A ramp from northbound SR 400 to Holcomb Bridge Road eastbound and split it allowing for access to both Holcomb Bridge Road eastbound as well as Market Boulevard. The provision of this new exit ramp will allow traffic to access Old Alabama Road via an alternate route thereby relieving traffic on Holcomb Bridge Road east of SR 400. The project is expected to begin construction in spring 2015.
Houze Road (SR 140) at Hembree Road Roundabout
This project will construct a roundabout at the intersection of Houze Road/SR 140 and Hembree Road. It will also construct a multiuse trail along the south side of Hembree Road for pedestrian and bike mobility connecting to Hembree Park. The project is expected to begin construction in August 2015.
Resurfacing of selected surface streets will begin later this summer. This site will be updated when contractors begin. When
resurfacing is underway, SLOW DOWN in work zones, watch for lane
closures and delays, and stay aware! Also, be aware that traffic signal
detection equipment is disconnected during resurfacing.
Alive After Five is Back!
The Alive After Five event is held on the third Thursday of every month through October. As a reminder, the following streets will be closed
for the event. Detours will be in place, follow signs, slow down and be alert.
