The City of Roswell has launched a new citizen notification service that will deliver important and timely emergency and general information to the City’s residents using the latest technology available.

What is Nixle?
The new notification service, NIXLE, will alert residents to emergency weather events, road closings, public safety advisories, natural and manmade disasters, and general city information through email and text messaging.

How Do I Sign Up?
NIXLE is free and is easy to register for through www.roswellgov.com. The button to sign up for the service is located on the right hand side of the City’s homepage. Those who wish to register will need to create an account with a user name and password, enter an email address and/or cell phone number where you would like to receive the messages, and then enter your address. Click the “Sign Me Up” button to complete the registration.

Currently, residents who register will receive alerts for weather events, road closing, and public safety advisories. Roswell will eventually provide general City information through NIXLE.

Please note that your cell phone provider’s text messaging rates will apply.

Census 2010-It's In Our Hands
US Census 2010
In March 2010, more than 130 million addresses will receive a 2010 Census form by mail or hand delivery. The 2010 Census will document the changes in our nation since the last decennial census in 2000, and tell us how we’ve evolved as a country. Because census data affect how more than $400 billion in federal funding is distributed to tribal, state and local governments, the census also will frame the future of our country and our community for the next 10 years. Green Hair Challenge Fundraiser
Green Hair Challenge

In an effort to generate even more awareness about the City of Roswell’s sustainability goals, City employees and residents will be able to have a little fun by helping decide who will wear green hair to a Council meeting in April. The Green Hair Challenge is a fundraising opportunity that involves the entire community.

Beginning Monday, March 8, employees and residents can cast their “vote” for who should wear green hair. Two people will be selected – one individual from Mayor & Council and one from the Management Team. Voting will take place from March 8-April 16 (close of business). Voting information will be posted on the Keep Roswell Beautiful website (www.keeproswellbeautiful.org) or you can cast your vote in person at City Hall in the Environmental/Public Works Department. Votes are $1 each. The person with the most votes will wear green hair.

The money raised through the Green Hair Challenge will be used to purchase water conservation kits. The City and Keep Roswell Beautiful are planning a giveaway event open to any Roswell resident and employee. Dates and times to be announced at a later date.

The City has made great strides in its efforts to “go green” by receiving the Silver Level Certification from the Atlanta Regional Commission’s Green Communities Program. The City has updated policies to include hybrid vehicles, began the process of an energy audit on City facilities and diversified the types of recyclables collected both curbside and at the Roswell Recycling Center.
